Merging Disks

Someone please tell me how to merge two local disks in windows 8.
Local disk C (windows installed)
and
Local disk E (empty)
both are of 50 GB
i want to merge them without reinstalling windows or without data loss.
One more thing all three disk i.e c,d,e are partitions of a single hard drive.

Open disk management
Right click on the disk you want to delete...  Right click then delete volume....  Then right click on the one you want to increase size in...  Right click then extend volume... 
Thats it.

If you still getting problem then reply here i will post image guide....  Online from mobile so can't post images ATM

Open disk management
Right click on the disk you want to delete...  Right click then delete volume....  Then right click on the one you want to increase size in...  Right click then extend volume...

option 'extend volume' is not available its in grey.
I followed same steps as listed by u.
Do i need to convert the basic disk to dynamic disk before extending?

i know its not recommended but  my c drive is full and i want install more programs in it
