I've got a rank of 8257 (Delhi GEN) in IPU CET 131 (btech) and I was wondering about which stream I should go opt for as I guess with my current rank and what college among them is best for that particular stream. (As the choices are looking quite low for my rank I guess)

You have very little chances of IT 2nd shift in MSIT and IT 1st shift in GTBIT
You may get IT 2nd shift/ECE 1st and 2nd shift in GTBIT
Good Chances of getting CSE in NIEC

Afaik if you want placement, ICE is not even worth taking.
But research opportunities are vast and if you have an aptitude for research, it is an excellent branch.
So it depends on your priority.

I would request u to avoid this branch unless this one is ur only option.
Placementwise, u will get placed in some mass recruiter company (IT and software firms) but getting settled in ur own core field is difficult and it doesnt really pay u great.
Reserachwise, this one is the worst branch.
Control engineering is close to dead in terms of research.
We are using PLC and PID controllers in industry, power stations etc since last 50 years and nothing has changed since then...technological changes are very slow. Only promising area of research is fuzzy logic...but that isnt either great.
Further its completely applied maths.
I have done my summer training in PLC and has studied even advanced control system n i didnt like it even a bit.
Only benefit of taking ICE is that there are some good number of seats in PSU for ICE students.
If you want a govt job then u can go with this.
Else research n higher studies ke point ke view se ye bhott bakwas branch hai.

If it is ur last option, then u shd grab it.
Yeah they teach u a good amount of cse concepts too.
C, OOPS, dbms, and most imp- data structure and algo padhna hota hai. The only thing that is required is ur seriousness.
Rest, if u have decided to take this branch then i will give u an advice- prepare for GATE seriously.
Control engineering ke liye bhott seats hote hai PSU me like NPCIL, NTPC, GAIL etc.... GATE crack aur job le lo PSU me.
Perhaps this is the only advantage of taking control engineering.
But research and higher studies ke view se ye bekar option hai. A lot of Universities in USA n UK have even stopped giving funds for research in this area.
Soft computing me hi maxm research chal raha hai abhi.
And its an applied maths branch.
90% numerical hi hota hai...

Why are you considering ICE if you are so interested in CSE , just for the sake of better college ?
Instead take cse/it in lower colleges in ipu or any other private college and as you said if you are ready to do that hardwork you will surely get your reward.

What about ECE, what is difference between EEE and ECE

EEE and ECE are very different.
EEE is purely based on physics(magnetism, electricity etc) , while ECE is related to tangible components like Integrated circuits, logic gates etc which are the backbone of IT industry.

But acc. To placement statistics eee has relatively  very less placements

And so does every branch that is not taken up by mass recruiters.
If placement is what you want, don't think about even ECE, take CSE or IT instead.
EEE is much sought after in Government jobs and PSUs, while ECE can work in IT companies and also have some jobs in PSUs (very less in number).

If your interest is true you'll get a job and a good one at that.
You'll have to have faith on yourself.

Remember : The easiest way is not always the best.

I'd still suggest you to take up CSE/IT or ECE, but after 4 years, what if you regret it?
You have stats and you have your passion/interest: choose wisely.

Could not decide,
Choose the branch which interests you, even cse/it will not ensure a good placement, most of the students in ipu end up in mass recruiters.
And eee is not a bad branch either it has a good scope in public sectors, infact it has most number of seats in psu after mechanical.

No branch is totally related to this. This is engineering, not ITI.

Coming to your question regarding EEE placements, realistic option of on-campus placements is in mass recruiter IT companies like Infy, TCS, Accenture, etc. Don't go on number of students placed, most of EEE students don't try seriously for this option, hence they fail. Companies as such don't discriminate much.

Now the major advantage of EEE is in PSU/Govt jobs. Most of the PSUs give starting packages in range of 7-12 LPA and some even upto 14-15 LPA. Getting in these jobs is obviously more of a hard work than in those mass recruiters as you will be competing all over India with lesser number of seats. But if you are serious and patient in your hardwork, it is achievable, not too difficult. PSU jobs are mostly in bit remote locations though, so consider that too although there are some options in cities also.

You won't get placed even in CSE/IT if you don't put in some effort. Don't think jobs are served on plate. Choose what you like and love as that will be your career forever.

EEE is just another physics. You will study the concepts...perform practicals on them but creating something new is hell difficult.
Main topics are power system, electrical machines & power electronics.
What u study in electrical machines is motors or generators created by edison and tesla... Yes we are studying same machines since last 150 years cus creating anything new here requires the intelligence level of tesla.
Its just a theory subject.
The best job that u can get through EEE is BARC- Research scientist at Bhabha atomic research centre....
U get a salary of one lakh rupees per month with various facilities like-
1) Housing facility in anushakti nagar mumbai.
2) medical insurance for ur whole family
3)electricity bill, phone bill, internet bill etc
They will even pay for the education of ur children.
And u will be posted in mumbai.
Best thing is its a central gov job...and u will be treated as a scientist....
Moreover, if u have the caliber, u can start teaching in coaching side by side...
My electrical machine teacher from madeeasy earns 2-3 crore rs per annum from coaching and besides this he gets a salary of 20-30 lacs per annum from his gov job.

Ece and cse are practical subjects...
You can start creating things from the first day. My girl is from IT branch and she is an expert of advanced android and she has created several messenger apps similar to whatsapp...and to be honest im quite impressed with this skill of her....
You will keep learning various tech in this field...
Private jobs are very good and rewarding...they will give u facility to work sometimes in foreign counties...
Bad part is, even if u can earn money, you will still be a nobody in this world. There are millions of coders like u, nobody gives u a shit.
Every other engineering aspirants aspires to be another zuckerberg...
Needless to say, one day everyone gets lost in some petty cubicle of an IT firm of bangalore, pune, hydrebad.

Hi, i am confused that which branch i should choose in B.Tech.

I have written the branches below according to my interest :

Civil : i am not very good at drawing, so i will not take civil

Mech : I do not like machines and cars so i will not take this branch.

ECE : I do not know much about it, but i do only know that it does deals with the communication of the electronic devices.

EEE : I do not know much about it, i just know that i would deal with the electrical components with this branch.

CSE : I do not know much about it, i did grew up with computers. All i know that i would be studying computer with this branch , i would be studying the programming in this branch. and i didn't liked it much when i read the book of c programming.I have seen many kids are  attracting towards this branch, i don't know why.Maybe when people in india hear computers they think it as a superior thing. Without any knowledge of the subject.

Out of these branches i have to choose only from these three EEE/ECE , CSE.Please help me to understand which branch i should choose. Please help me that which branch i should choose.

I am not very good at maths and i do like physics.

BARC doesn't give 1 lakh salary. It is a prestigious job, no doubt. But even on their site they are claiming ₹ 64000/- gross salary (not in-hand) after 3 increments. Though obviously it will increase with 7th pay commission.

And doing another job side by side your govt. job is actually not legal. Service rules prohibit you to work for anyone else when you are working for them.

Sir i have planned to do M.Tech/P.hd after my B.tech.
Right now i am very confused.
It's like ki aankh khuli aur pata chal raha hai ki B.Tech karni hai.
Mere ghar me koi bada bhai aur koi nahi hai samjhaane ke liye.

I was interested in history, but aapko to scope pata hai.
Mene socha hai ki first i would do the B.tech and M.Tech and then after i will teach in colleges as a professor or will work in a private company.
And simultanously with the job i will do the P.hd.
I would try to apply in isro and i would try to clear upsc.

Participating in the sliding round won't harm you.

There is no difference between first and second shift, it is that your timings would be different and no company differentiate between first and second shift.

According to him a person working for BARC gets a salary which is more than what our PM gets.  :X
when i read this i laugh
i laugh big time
PM gets a cash lets say 1.60l pm
now add the house i can say staying in that location will cost you 10lac per month
the medical
the travel you know how much it cost
the staff yes the entire govt works under him
his cti cost to india cannot be counted

all people here have no idea about polity i am saying again polity not politics
PM IS THE BOSS IN INDIA

bade bade arabpati uske dafter ke age time mangte hai
bhai india ka pm hai bahut badi baat hoti hai jis barc ke admi ki tum baat kar rahe ho
jab modi aur vo kisi jangah ek sath honge to ye barc wala hath jod kar khada hoga
aur vo hath modi ya manmohan ke liye nahi jode jate
vo hath esliye jode jate hai ki vo admi 120 carore logo ka representative hai
jisko bharat ka savidhan bahut kuch karne ka adhikar deta hai

When did i say that?
If you think working at a software firm Is better than working as a scientific officer at BARC then certainly you have got a short term vision. The kind of projects that you are given to work in BARC is unbeatable in terms of work satisfaction.
You might have been brainwashed by all these mushroomimg software firms these days.
But this madness of startups of apps, social media and software isnt reliable. Big e-commerce sites like flipkart, snapdeal arnt making profit still, no need to talk about every other e commerce coming these days. They are still in the market due to the grace of VC funding and rest other investors.
The moment another recession hits the markets, all these private firms will go down the drain.
Over valuation of an industry certainly creates a bubble in industry.
India ek andha kuan hai, yahan ksi ki nahi pata ki kya ho raha hai, sbko lakho ka package dikhta hai aur kuch nahi.

Yes sir, i agree....
They pay 64,000 initially after one year training.
But certainly after availing a master degree and a few promotions, one easily reaches to salary of 1 lacs per month and with a little work stress.

And yes, we cant do any side job...but we can surely do some side business. I know one such person who works at a psu but side by side he is involved in a business of wholesale of medicines...and he earns quite handsome...
He has got a bmw.

In short, ek govt job le lo...jisse month ke end me ek fixed salary aa jaye and side me apne wife ya bhai ke naam pr business kr lo... :-)

Will try for ISRO and UPSC?
Ek jagah try kro yar. UPSC is kinda a very big shot. Insane labour is required because there is throat cut competition. Further, be ready for back up, UPSC nhi bhi nikle to UPPSC ya state gov jobs ke sath reh jana.

Working at ISRO is best in terms of work satisfaction. But they pay very less. So it isnt glamourous.

BA degree in History?
It is certainly a good path. Get the master degree and then crack UGC Net. You will become a professor in a central univ. Life sahi rahegi.. 3-4 hours ki class lo...aur fir apni jindagi jiyo, zero work stress. Salary bhi sahi milti hai.
But u wont get a kind of satisfaction.

M.tech and phd is good if u want to be a professor or if u r in ece. For rest branches it isnt good option.

Ps- If you want to earn lots of money and doesnt care for work satisfaction, get a Pgp from old IIMs, mba from IIFT, or pgdm from XLRI. Within a decade, you will have enough momey to buy an audi.

I've a little chance of getting ECE at BVCOE with my rank 6.8k.. As cutoffs are sky high this year I think I"ll have to settle myself for EEE at BVCOE.. How good is EEE out there? As I'm more inclined towards PSUs.. taking that into account lemme know if EEE is worth hitting for. And which one out of ECE and EEE benefits you more in govt sector jobs?
