How do I become a 3D printing prototype designer?
« on: June 29, 2017, 04:28:24 pm »
The appeal of  "3D printing" is that it can be done as a hobby or cottage industry. You don't need to get a job at, just build a printer and go for it. Building the machine isn't that hard, as others have mentioned, learning to do the CAD is the hard part. That can be learned at a trade school or university. If you just want to make little plastic models of things you can probably teach yourself everything you need to know and buy a complete printer  that's ready to go on Ebay or Amazon. If you want to make things out of metal and/or wood, that's a little harder but doable. You'll need to learn a little materials science so that you know about woods and metals. The tools, machines, and techniques used to model and build useful items are best learned in a trade school or even a mechanical engineering curriculum  if you have the time and money. Otherwise, using the internet, you can learn a lot on your own. 3D scanning simplifies the CAD part a lot but is expensive and not as easy as it looks. 3d printing chhattisgarh jharkhand anand mumbai pune india

Employers like youngsters at the entry level, but, self employment is viable at this point in the industry's development. Hopefully, the Chinese are far enough behind the curve on this that we still have few years ahead of us. The software skills are minimal. Very sophisticated proprietary and open source software packages exist for converting your CAD designs into machine instructions. Likewise for the Design software. It's a matter of knowing how to use the software, not  writing it.

As far as specializations, I'd say that is wide open just pick something you'd like to do. Make machine parts, musical instruments, toys, sculptures, furniture, jewelry, weapons, or whatever you can imagine. 3d printed object gallery
