« on: July 18, 2010, 12:24:09 am »

A BANGALORE based software company Hidden Reflex has launched India’s first ever web browser- Epic on Thursday (July 15).

A team of India engineers created the web browser based on the open-source Mozilla platform. It also claimed to be the first anti-virus browser.

The Internet users can download the browser for free from the Internet

“Epic provides a uniquely Indian browsing experience. Epic’s India sidebar supports Indian content by providing users access to the latest national and regional news from popular publications, live television channels, videos, stock quotes, live cricket scores,
top music albums, and local events,” said in a statement.

From among more than 1500 customized Indian themes and wallpapers ranging from freedom fighters to famous Bollywood and regional film stars, users can chose their own theme and wallpaper.

The statement said that Epic supports a sidebar that allows creating documents in 12 regional Indian languages. Users can access latest national and regional news from popular publications and television channels, videos, stock quotes, live cricket scores,
top music albums and local events.

Applications like facebook, Orkut, Gmail, games, file Backup, My Computer, a to-do-list, maps and so on are preinstalled in the web browser Epic. Epic also features built-in-antivirus, malicious website warnings and anti-phishing protection.
