Internships / Re: java vs. php after 2nd year CSE
« on: March 26, 2016, 07:50:09 pm »
Hello senior's,

I am a 2nd year student of CSE grad, I am confused about certifications ( Java or php ). I am interested in web development so I want to start with php but many people says Java would be great for campus placement or big giant tech companies coz mostly these companies don't use php at all for their projects. & also tell me the scope of web developer in india. Please help & reply ASAP. I will join immediate(next day ) after the reply. Don't want to waste my time now.

Thanx in advance!
If you are really interested in web development ,, then learn javascript.. javascript can serve as backend+UI..
Its a bit tough to get than php,,but more secure than php.
For php...
Start with alex videos on newboston..
After going through all of them go to phpacademy.org..
Try to program using OO concept as much as possible..
And once you feel a bit comfortable go for php's most used framework "laravel"..
Its really really imp to learn atleast one framework of php..
And instead of going for some certification courses i would suggest you to work on some project..
And if you really want certification then go for 'zend' certification exam..
Thats the best you can get in php arena..
Learn MongoDb for databases.
And as Ezio said,, dream companies are mostly concerned with your knowledge in core computer science subjects i.e algo,ds,dbms..

1. IIT/M.Tech
2.PSU
3.research..
4.teaching

Depends on your ability to work hard and passion for getting into IIT..
Go through GATE syllabus once..
From 3rd sem onwards you are going to encounter 2/3 subjects of GATE Main syllabus in each sem.. so in that particular sem focus on those subjects.. buy standard books i.e foreign authors. And study them thoroughly..
And there are hundreds of vidoes available on youtube..
After 5th sem you can opt for coaching too.
