Ways to get offcampus placements
« on: November 27, 2014, 02:50:31 pm »
WHAT IS OFF-CAMPUS PLACEMENTS?
Off-campus placements means getting placed outside your college i.e without any assistance of your college. Be it a walkin directly to company or some other ways.
If you belong to average college where placement opportunities are not enough for you to get placed then don't worry its not the end of the world. Even if you are placed but not happy with the package or profile that you've been offered then also this topic will guide to get placement opportunities. Following are the few ways through which you can get opportunities.
Elitmus

What is elitmus? : eLitmus Evaluation Private Limited is an Indiancompany that helps companies in hiring employees for entry-leveljobs.It was founded in the year 2005 by former employees of Infosys. Some of the Fortune 500companies hire their employees through the pH test conducted by eLitmus.

Website : www.elitmus.com[/url][/u] . Register on this site to create your account and schedule test.

Cost of the exam : Cost of giving exam is 920 rs per test.

Validity of score : 2 years.

Date of test : It is conducted on every alternate Sundays in major cities of India like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune etc.

Cooling period after an attempt : There Is no cooling period for this exam . One can give this exam infinite number of times. All you need is to give 920 bucks.

Scholarship code: If you've scheduled an exam on some particular date and in case you failed to attend the exam then you'll get a scholarship code of worth 630 that can be redeemed in next exams.

Some companies hiring through eLitmus : Amazon, Adobe, Mcafee, Accenture, Mindtree, Sasken, Sopra, Optimus Information, HARMAN, National Instruments etc.

Eligblity : There is no eligibility criteria as such to take up the pH test. Cuurently, only candidates having/pursuing a degree in BE/B.Tech, MCA, ME/M.Tech or M.Sc(CS/IT) will benefit from the pH test.

Documents to carry at the centre : You will have to bring your:
a) Xth, XIIth, Graduation/Post graduation certificates.
b) All Mark sheets till date; X, XII, Graduation/Post Graduation mark sheets as applicable.(Final year students need to carry the marks sheets till date).
c) Government issued Photo identity card (like Driving license, passport, Voter Id card etc)
d) Admit Card with photo pasted.

Mode of exam : Its pen paper based offline paper.

Duration of exam : 2hours.

Structure of the test : It comprises of 3 section :
      a) Verbal (20 questions)
      b) Quant (20 questions)
      c) Problem Solving (20 questions)

Weightage of each question : 10 marks per question.

Negative marking : There is no negative marking till the 1/4th the number of questions attempted. After that each wrong question will draw negative marking of 50% . Example : If you've attempted 16 questions with 6 questions wrong and 10 correct questions. Then 1/4(total) i.e. 4 questions will not have any negative marking while remaining 2 questions will have negative marking of 50%. i.e. 2*5 = -10 marks. And your score will be 10*10(score for correct answers) 2*5(50% negative for wrong questions) = 90 marks. This method is valid for each section individually.

Where to prepare? : Elitmus exam's  level is at par with CAT level. So any CAT material is good for elitmus. Arun sharma for CAT is good for quant.
Percentile vs Scores : I've attached the image that'll help you to get idea about score vs percentile for this exam.

For AMCAT:
Although there is an option to apply for any job , but its of no use because if there is any drive through AMCAT in Delhi/NCR , then AMCAT itself will send you the details and admit card for that drive on your email-id , if you clear the necessary eligibility .

For Elitmus/Cocubes - Jadon sir can tell better

In both these tests you've your log in id and password for your portal. They have the job listing of the companies which are currently hiring.
In AMCAT you don't need to apply for any company. They shortlist you and they ask you to confirm that. This doesn't mean you'll get chance to attend the interview for sure. Even after confirming they again shortlist you and then give interview call letter(Admit card).

In elitmus you've to apply for the job in which you are interested and if your scores are good enough then you'll get call for interview. Elitmus's way is more transparent. Plus companies hiring through elitmus are better(to be precise best) but 90% of the companies hiring through elitmus are Bangalore based.
