this depends upon student to student what they want to make during training.

so there is no perticular project list which you have to make.

and you can see my second year training experience once you go back to internship tab on this forum  :)

Its is better to go for company training as you will also feel relaxed and tension free and dont even need to go daily, as you have to go daily if you are choosing training from college.

And when you move to company you get exposure to how things works and what you are studying is that really useful for company level and where does all those things get implemented which you use to study in classes.

And You also get introduced with other students and staff at the company so its good to have training from a company .

You can work and learn freely if you are getting training from a company but you feels like school/college if you are getting training from the college.

If you have interest in web designing then opt PHP with that you can know many new CMS like joomla,drupal,wordpress...mostly all of them are using PHP.

and you wil be able to make a good proffesional websites.(But Hardwork and creative thinking require)

if you have interest in programming then .net with that you can make projects easily.
cons of .net is that teachers are very bored from .net projects.

Dude as a piece of advise, Asp.Net and Php are both good, and if your aim is solely to run and build  websites choose Php but if you want to work for a framework trying to build website and Windows applications, dotNet is far the better choice.

As I said, the pro's of ASP.net is that its wider and you can build websites and windows applications and also programming in Asp.Net is easy, we call it soft programming, one mouse click and you can inherit entire damn classes at once, the only thing you need to worry about is ur programming logic and database connectivity.
The cons are that you will foever get limited to Microsoft Windows and Asp.net will only compile on Windoes machine/Server although it can be run but only as a website on Linux/Unix/Apache servers. You cant run a Asp.net window-based app on Macintosh or on Linux(except if using an emulator like 'Wine' on Linux)

As for PHP, its open source and was built for Linux/Unix servers, runs as good as dotnet if not better. And because its open source and can run on Linux,Unix,Macintosh, Windows, it is often the choice of web developers. If web-development is all you want to do then Php is the choice.

But, that said, .Net framework  I feel is much more vast which has I dont know how many supported languages,25-30 I think. Also, I believe if you put in efforts you can learn Php basics at home using the internet, the same isnt possible for Asp.net. Prefer DotNet over Php in my opinion.

And hey, because you're from IT I would actually advise you to do Linux Operating System over these two though. Because surprisingly, Linux IS NOT TAUGHT TO IT students in our university, only CSE students are taught Linux in 5th semester, and Linux is THE OS used in most corporates and not MS Windows, so knowing Linux should be important imo. There are I think only two RedHat(biggest Linux distributor in the World) certified training centres in all of Delhi, one is IANT in Pitampura, the other is New Horizon at Lodhi Road I think.

now you have no time to apply in companies which was important as u r in third year. In placement time many companies ask for you about third year trng :)

but now u can do certification course acc to your interest.

and u can choose Mtech/MBA acc to your interest :) but in Mtech 90% of people become lecturer :)

Hey all,

I'm a 3rd sem (CSE) student in MAIT and my end term exams are on head.

I need a clear idea as to what we do in internship and how does it benefit?

Do we train under a company or simply do a course??

I have a job at hand that requires data handling with Microsoft Office Tools.. As an assistant, doing with excel spreadsheets and databases.. This would give me money, but no knowledge, experience etc. It'd just be a part time job. I'll only expertise what I'm already good at. I feel THAT is not internship is about, right??

Read some articles and felt I should go for learning languages and stuff.. Or "train under some companies".. What companies? How do I approach them.

Should I simply join a language course from some institute? Is that what internship is about?

Enlighten me please. Confused here.

Also refer some sites that could help me.

Thanks.
God bless.  :)

I enquired from a teacher at mi college that industrial training in 3rd yr is not a necessity .

Ok , i just wanted some advise from seniors, last yr i did a research internship at an engg. college. N i am glad i did it since most of my mates who did theirs in a company sed thy didnt do nething(n i somehow knew that would happen :)).ANyway, this yr also , i was interested in doing a research internship.

Apart from this, im exploring about the companies also. I looked at bose, i might get thr n it has opening for ece ppl also, other companies i looked at was samsung, st microelectronics, schneider, masamba , mentor graphics etc. Can someone plz guide me since i am very confused at the moment. If i go to a company, thn tht company shud be having resuces for interns, it should not be just for their own work.

Seniors, plz guide me, as to what i should be doin? or should i simply do a course on embedded systems?

I am a CSE 2nd year student from IGIT. I know C/C++ and linux.

1. If i join a course, which one should i do(Java/PHP) ? As JAVA is taught in 3rd yr then what are the benefits of doing a course after 2nd yr?
Also, seniors here say that teachers in IGIT give low marks on the very mention of institutes like niit and others.

2. If i join a company, then i would not get to learn anything unless i do a live project or something like that.

3. We also have training in IGIT in collaboration with Nokia( most probably same as the last year) on mobile programming and applications.

What should i do? Please suggest  :adore1

@miles4

1) You should prefer JAVA as it has more scope than php and most of the companies that visit IP only a few (very less chances) use php language in their projects .

And its better to get full control of any language ... you can choose c or c++ or JAVA  any of them as per your interest .

2) If you join a company then most of the companies provide you training any assign you any particular stream JAVA , DOT-NET etc and its upon you those who wanna learn can learn from anywhere ..
its obvious if you wanna learn then you dont need to be assigned a project . But   project teach you how actually we put everything we have learned to make a working model , there are many tasks that cannot be done with whatever you were taught then you have to refer to internet of some books to learn those things .

If you start implementing whatever you have learned in B-tech to practical things it will be much better and will help you at your training time and job time .
You can stay ahead of others .

Training and internships are helpful to know how actually things happen in a company and how to implement what you have learned to make things and most importantly they teach you how to plan things , the way of planning .

Stick with your favorite language , explore it , make things with it , experiment , ask your queries from others if any .

So you can learn JAVA from java and php
C and C++ are not a bad option .

If you are good in programming and Dont want to learn somthing new then you can try in industrial training.

generally this following companies/institute helps in trng

1.DRDO
2.DMRC
3.IIT
4.CRIS
5.NPTC
6.BHEL
7.Ministry of IT/railway

and if you have some approach then pvt companies like TCS/wipro also give trng.

You did get answers from us on IPU Btech group. Anyways as said by Varun Sir, in ECE it doesn't matter from where you do internship. I do think IIT is a great option and since you have already done last year training from there, so you would be in better position to know if IIT internship is good or not.

Yes there are some colleges that allow only in-house training, that is the college imparts training to all students. HMR,BPIT and a few others I think fall  in this category.

However most good colleges in IPU like BVP, Mait, IGIT etc allow students to pursue summer training/internship from outside. Infact when I was in 2nd year not even 1 student from my stream CSE in Mait did training from college, everybody did it from outside.

As a suggestion, if your college gives an option of in-house training or doing it from outside, choose the second option. Doing training/internship from outside is better and you will also get better projects to implement whereas in in-house trainings it's same 4-5 projects they keep giving to students every damn yr. Also, if you do it from outside through an institute, they might even give you discount if you further want to do a certification from them and will also train you at a discounted cost for the certifications that are quite useful later on and even in placements. Eg, if you do training in Java from say Aptech, the inst. often gives such students marginal discount if you then want get certified as an SCJP.

In short, avoid in house training. If your college only lets you do in-house then bad luck!

What's your stream and what language/course do you want to do?

If you're interested in Operating Systems, Computer Networks or Linux, there's IANT in Kohat. Get RHCE certification.

For Java or dotNET, I've heard CMC, which has a branch in Kohat, is the best rated. CMC> HCL CDC> Aptech in my opinion.

For Oracle or DBMS, I don't have as much knowhow but Aptech's course is rated decently.

If you're interested in Data mining or search analytics, there's only a Govt of India's Computer Centre in RK Puram (for students who've passed 3rd yr only). But they only take students predominatly from IIT,NIT,Dce,NSIT etc... people from Mait,Bvp,Igit could be selected for internship but any lesser college and no chance unless you know the director. :D

Both NIIT and Aptech are poor for these language courses, they're only good for the jobless guys looking for short term diplomas from there.

CMC is good and even HCL CDC at the very least have some industry value that you might get during TCS and HCL's placement drives respectively.

Also, it seems you're in third year. Why on earth are you going for these institutes again? Go and do industrial training in some company or firm like HCL Infotech,Samsung Labs,DRDO,Location Labs,Play Up, Yamaha etc depending on your stream.

Personally, my college(MAIT) didn't even give proper marks to those who didn't do industrial training/internship after 3rd yr and were all given marks b/w 50-60 for the training report.

17k is too freaking high for a Java course unless they are including the certification fee within this Rs 17k or that they're going to teach you Java Advanced in detail which is a 4-5 month course.

The usual thing is that you do a course on Java,Oracle-DBMS(database mgmt systems),Linux, dotNET for 7-10k Rs and once you've completed it you can go for a certification which can cost you anywhere between 2k-15k depending on the type of certification you do.
Also any such technical certification are like a star on your CV, so if you have a chance and think you can clear the certification exam(which are quite tough) then grab it with both hands even if it costs a good 8-10k rupees.

I would say do Java from any good institute around your home:
1.  that charges less than 10k for Java Core.
2.  And will train you for certifications like SCJP at an added cost. (Make sure that the institute is collaborated with Sun Microsystems, the makers of Java)

No i dnt think so,that NIIT ppl will teach advanced java for 3- 4 month.Within 2 months my both core and advanced would be finished (around 72-75 hours).
So i am thinking to do it from aptech.

I'm ECE 2nd year MAIT student and want to do a course in embedded system in summer vacations.
Please tell me which institute is best for it.
Some of my frnds told me :- TICO,SOFCON,APPIN
I'm totaly confused which one to choose and suggest me a good one out of these or any other better.
If any senior will share his/her experience about the institutes that will be great.

TICO and APPIN are good option , but if its possible choose industrial training as you learn lots of things there .

Also in MAIT if there is VHDL training in college then join that because you get to learn lot of things there .

You can also talk to P.K Sinha sir regarding this training . But the only thing bad about it is that you have to come college regularly and it will no longer feel like you are enjoying holidays .

But its much better to go for industrial training as you get exposure to a company's environment and learn lot of things .

IF thats not possible then go for TICO or appin  and if you live nearby rohini then PLC in sector 1 (avantika) Rohini is a much better option i have known personally students from there from NSIT and they have learned lot of things from there .

No need to do training in 2nd sem ......same training you will be doing after 4th and 6th sem.
Just enjoy your vacations this time or brush up your programming skills if you are weak at them, by doing C/C++ from some institute.

CSE students do java/.net/php etc courses...........being an ECE student I don't feel of need doing these courses.
If you had studied computer science in 12th then also not much need of doing C/C++
but if you are weak at programming then brush up your skills as it will be very usefull in 3rd sem ,two subjects realted to C/C++ :- OOPS and Data Structure in next sem.

Otherwise as I said just enjoy the vactions  :hd Try to pursue your hobby or make one  :qui ............ As after vacations again exams exams exams  :gunfr

You can Ask here any question come to your Mind about internship or training.

Mostly Team members of Techbits have gone throw training so they are able to tackle your questions.

Ask them to get better answer!

I am in 4th sem in IT branch. Please tell me whether I would go for training in some company or do some certification course from some institute.

upto you no big deal although ask some senior teacher also
my advice go for training
unless you are going for something repudiated like cisco certification
which help you in future
mind you it is pet question in interview
what project you did during training and where
what you learnt from that and contribution

For CSE, the most preferred options are usually Java, dotNet or Linux. I'd advice against Java as it is taught in college too, and with a little bit of personal effort you can do Java well during college itself.

Linux would be very useful if interested in making a career around computer networks, system security etc.

Other than these, Data Analytics using various different tools like IBM SPSS is of great value, especially in your CV, but you'd get to do these only in some company, not in training institutes.
Also, you can do training in DBMS as well. Or in ERP but training in ERP from training institutes will be very expensive.

Well for NIEC its compulsory to take training from college only...

You aren't allowed to do some course outside....

and companies like CMC(for cse and IT students) and Sofcone for (ece etc) came to campus last year...

and for ECE i just know about one course that they offer...its Embedded system...rest 2 other courses are also offered but mostly guys prefer Embedded...so i would suggest you to go for embedded only...

rest other ECE seniors will suggest better...

Heylo seniors..
I am in IT 4th sem right now.I have done the basics of C language.I can't say that I am an expert programmer but I had covered and practiced almost all topics in 1st year.I did a bit of C++ in 3rd sem (before exams :P) and I am trying to manage some time and learn c++ thoroughly again by myself.

The problem is that now there's going to be a training in college after the 4th sem exams.CMC provides training in MSIT.College authorities told us today that there are going to be 5 courses available JAVA,.NET,PHP,Cloud,Linux.

I am confused whether i should take up training at college or not. Some people say that companies don't teach anything to interns. And some say it's good to have exposure to their working environment.

I have now decided that I must take training at college this year and next year I can go to some company.

Please advice me whether my decision is right or not.

And the second thing, what should i choose,JAVA or PHP??
I have interest in both but i think JAVA would be more beneficial when when IT companies like Infosys,HCL visit the campus.I have downloaded PHP tutorials (lynda.com) and i am thinking to do it by myself.
Or should i learn PHP in training as JAVA is also covered in university syllabus??

Please help me.

PHP isn't as big as Java yet. PHP can be done on your own, but Java Core can also be done on your own.

The Indian IT companies like TCS, Infosys, HCL are more focussed on Java currently, php is used more for low cost developments, Java is more stand-alone if you get what I mean. E-Commerce Startups like Snapdeal, Flipkart use a combination of Java and php, Snapdeal infact even called students from MAIT and others for placement through Amcat last yr at 4.5lpa for Java developer role.

If you get a chance to learn any technology in any company right after 2nd yr for internship, that'll be 10 times better than doing courses through college as these colleges will give you same dummy projects as last yr and you don't really need to use your mind to do these reports/projects as they're not out-of-the-box.

For higher studies, if you mean MBA then none of these things will matter. MTech ain't much value in India except if you want to go into Research fields.
For MS abroad, you need a strong profile, if you have some companies or strong people to refer you and a strong CV. These in house trainings won't help much there.

They don't have to teach you anything, and you're right they won't teach you java or dotnet and don't expect them to. But if you have an understanding of say Java and code decently, the workflows and exposure you get there will far exceed anything that'll be taught in college trainings. There's no spoonfeeding, and don't expect either, because you go there to learn and it's not them who have to teach you. In a company, you understand, processes, workflows and optimizing your coding, rather than coding itself.

Even if you want to learn Java or something similar, I'd suggest join an Aptech or CMC, rather than doing it in college. When you step out, the amount you learn is always higher. I believe that way.

So,that means we must know JAVA (or equivalent) before seeking internship. This disqualifies me for internship after this sem then. :P

And about Aptech, etc. in MSIT CMC gives training.   :think

P.S.-I've got to know,it may be silly, that android is a technology that is popular nowadays but some other tech may take over it  in future. So it's better to do J2EE coz J2EE certification is more valuable than android. Is it so ?

I 2nd semester you need not do any Internship/Training.

It will be better if you enhance your C/C++ skills (if not so good in it) or you can even do some Java.

if your c/c++ is strong.. then go for courses like.. asp.net/php or any other course which you are interested in ...

Then you can go for .NET, PHP or JAVA.

In our college, HP is providing summer training, so being an ECE student is it better to do summer training in HP or to do a course of Embedded systems from institutes like DOEACC, APPIN, CMC ?

Please reply as soon as possible.  :)

Thanks is advance!  :adore1

Though I am a CSE guy, but I can guarantee that the HP wagerah ki training which they give in College or at their centres is useless for learning purpose. If you just want a Certi/project then go for it. One of my friends from EEE learnt embedded in summer training from 1 of the institutes n it was good acc to him, ill ask the name and tell you.
Rest depends upon Interest, You are in which sem?
If 4th, then go for anything according to your interest, as in Ip 4th sem training, they just need a Certi and a project.

In the beginning of the first line i thought that it's gonna be 'it's awesome, go for it!'  :qui

I am in 4th Semester.
And if that's the case then i think i will prefer doing a course from an institute.

Thanks sir! :)  :adore1

No Problem :)

I have many ECE/EEE friends, and one thing is for sure, if you are interested then definately go for some course in which you are taught practically, ie you are made to work on devices, circuits, embedded systems etc,  facilities which are not available in colleges easily, so that you get a first hand experience and its fun to learn.

Trainings in which you are made to just sit and listen to lectures or made to sit on computers, wandering here and here are useless and a waste of money and time.

If you are weak in proggrammimg languages then you can go for Java training from either college or any other institute which is near to your house.
If you are ok with it then I will suggest you not to do java as you will be taught java in 5th sem anyways. Yes, it is not taught well in colleges I know but still you will elarn more when you are forced to study it for exams  :cc

If you can get internship in any company. DO IT :)
or else if you have links tto get certi from anywhere, then show the certi in college and instead learn whatever you are interested in the holidays/

I too did java training from CMC Noida only, so I can tell you that it was more like paying money to get certi and making a project yourself as in the end you have to study yourself only.

If you have no problem in going to college daily and college is offering it at a discounted rate, less than institutes, then Go for it.

I dont know about other colleges, but in MAIT those who did from college , Unka Viva/Presentation nhi hua tha and number bhi ache diye the.

Better to do project based industrial training from some insitute or certification course (java) after 3rd year CSE?

is training in DRDO or Power grid ok for 2nd year ECE?
i heard that in power grid it will be just control systems of there plant and not any communication thing which they include in 3rd year training only and in drdo there are not good or as such any project for 2nd yr students.
in that case which one would be better?
should i go for doordarshan then or any other?

Always industrial training, whether it's project based or just general observation learning with a report of what you did. This is most definitely better than certification training non-sense in 3rd year.
Java and all maybe okay in 2nd yr but you seriously ought to do industrial training in 3rd year to know about various things.

I am talking in terms of knowledge, marks and all is a different case, your teacher needs to be good enough too to understand what you did in industrial training also. BUt at the end of the day marks are not the most important coz 65% walo ki bhi placement ho jaati hai aaram se aur 85% walo ki bhi, knowledge though is a key differentiator.

NIEC is forcing us to do summer training from college itself via Purpleleap. I have two questions:

1. Is it worth doing, or should I do from outside?

2. We are given two options, EMBEDDED SYSTEMS and TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Which one will be best and why ?

I'm having contacts with ECE students and they all say that Embedded is very useful thing for them...so my suggestion would be go for embedded.
seniors from ECE/EEE background will tell you better...just wait for their reply too.  ^_^

It depends on what have you done in previous training. If you have done electrical related training previous year, then you may go for DRDO this time, else I would suggest you to go for electrical related training.

language will matter less what kind of project you do with it will
how complex is the project its usefullness and have it been done before are some of the criteria

if you think just by having php or dotnet or java in resume, you will get job
then you are wrong
they will not take you just like that as almost everyone will have same things in his/her resume

anyways scope wise php is less and is not used in most of it companies as preferred language
they will work on jee or dot net share point etc
but many of startups like flipkart or mid segment company like tavant and many of online retail companies do use php.

although we are not a company but even we use php

and by taking % and i may be wrong but only less 5-10% will have php but number is growing

In some colleges like NIEC,HMR etc. there is training from college only after 2nd yr...kind of compulsory....in IGIT its just an option to take that training and open for outsiders too

For outside companies you have to apply yourself...and you get a call for interview....jacks work many-a-times...isme college ki koi responsibility ni hoti

You will have to go for summer training after your 2nd year aka after 4th semester. It can be college based, means, any company will come to your college and train you else you have to find it yourself. There are plenty of companies that provide summer training.

Internship, irony to the actual task in IPU, has same meaning in context to IPU. It is done after 3rd year aka after 6th semester. Its basically same is training.

Both are compulsory.

and on top of that if you are really lucky you may get to go onsite first in your batch
with a salary of rs 1 lakhs + month with stay in five star
and when you come back you may again go back in 2-3 days

btw whatever i said is a true story O:) and happened with my best friend

it's better to do internship from any company rather than institute.....in company u will get to know about how the work is done in a company..in institutes they will teach u like some school or college......and u will have to pay 6-7000 money too. So try to get internship from any company ..if u do not have any links u can apply for start up companies .

sir .. plzz help me out .. am  a ece student 2nd year for what i shud opt for in my summer holidays ... whether i shud go to some pvt institute for embedded or vlsi ...or i hv to go to some industry training ... which 1 is better and help me ..in future ... give me both aspects advice means knowledge and marks relatd .... plzz sir reply asap ... as i hv to apply for it in indstry if u suugest me dat ...

Go for real industrial training. Try hard for it. Nothing beats it, in terms of Knowledge. Marks wise, well it depends from college to college. PVT institutes will cost you money plus there will be so many people there  (Talking abt most institutes, exceptions can be there)

What many of my friends did was get into a company and get a certificate from there. You can always make up your own project and say the company helped you in it.

Which are the good companies for an ECE 2nd year student? I have heard about DRDO, AAI, BEL.. Is it worth doing internships from these? Also, is the internship provided on the basis of merit or is it just about "jack"?
Also, which lab should we work in these companies? Seniors, please reply!

after 2nd year many colleges provide inhouse training . If you want to go for training from out side collg you can go for  DOTNET ,
php etc etc  .Java will be taught to you in 5th semester ...but its entirely your choice what course u want to do .

Don't know about PHP tutors. But i have heard DUCAT is best for JAVA.
training you do, totally depends on the tutor you get. So, best practice is to attend the demo class and get reviews from the students already taking the programme.

There aren't many organisations that provide internship in networking. I have tried and did not get one. I have heard about ONGC telling about their networks to students. But you can always go for certification program training in networking.

Certificate is just a formality to be completed.
Marks depend upon the viva and presentation basically.
And more importantly how well you know the teacher.

PHP+ MySQL - lot of jobs now a days for website management and development. If you go for it, make sure you do CMS, CSS, JS, JQ also

JAVA - it in included in IPU's syllabus of 5th sem. complete core java and bits of J2EE. Java has a wide scope but you need to have concepts of logical ability. J2EE is quite something to understand. It too has wide scope and students prefer go for android programming after doing java as it is programmed on java

Ruby- dont have much idea about it. but heard its scope is growing with time.

All the best :)

First of all. No backs and at least 70%. The more you score, the more chances you wont have to face GD.
important subjects are data structures, Operating Systems, programming and networking.

You can do whatever you want in the holidays . For internship , you have to get NOC Letter from your college , which you have to then submit in the respective company .
But the thing is why would company select you as an intern because a 2nd year student doesn't have any technical knowledge of his/her stream . Therefore , the best time to undergo any internship is after 3rd year .

Dear Member,

It is true that every member has freedom of choice over the username but I believe you would not like us to call by your current choice of username.
Please maintain the decorum of the forum and change the username as requested by the staff member.

P.S - Please don't be disheartened over not getting any internship calls. Purpose of the internship is to have you learn something which is not taught in college. You can always have a self learning process and prepare your own project which can be showcased in your college.

Regards,
Lalit

Learn core JAVA, irrespective of ur branch. And if possible, then learn Android also.

Can't say bro.
ECE core companies are very less....so I don't have any idea.
In private sector, u mostly have to settle either for management profile or as a coder....core me job lagna...sometimes depends on luck factor too
India me coding industry hi exist krti hai.
I will again suggest u, learn JAVA.
Final year me bhott kaam ayega if u are applying for on/offcampus jobs....

Yeah...try to get certification ...if possible...
I'm telling u...certification final year me chalkar itne kaam aane wale hai....u can't think of it now.
I often think ki kash mere senior v mrko batate...

Let me tell u some benefits...although I'm from elec...but when I applied for musigma...they asked me for Java...
On campus placement me bhi ek company aai thi jisne bina bataye C# n Java se ques kr diye...and we electrical guys were clueless...
Right now, I'm applying for higher degrees....in software systems...
They are asking for some certifications in comp sc.
Even elitmus ke through jitni companies aati hai...they often ask for ur skills in Android/Java/J2EEetc....
Agar private me Jana hai...Jo mai bol rha hu..wo kar lo...else final year me lag jayegi...
C/C++ ke basis pe kuch nhi ukhaad sakte aajkal.

i am also learning web development(only html, css, bootstrap, sql, php) online

I am so scared of this and i cant sleep nowdays thinking this  :((  After these vacations i am also joining a MBA coaching so i dont think between college and coaching i would have time to learn new stuff

i am not very good at coding and also i have only basic knowledge of web dev in the languages specified. I dont know how i will get a proper internship in 3rd year :( . I am so scared of this and i cant sleep nowdays thinking this  :((  After these vacations i am also joining a MBA coaching so i dont think between college and coaching i would have time to learn new stuff

ps:i have all the basic knowledge of c++ but when it comes to tough or competitive programming i just cant do it.I have spent weeks trying to improve but i cant nor do i have much interest in iy
You can't solve competitive problems because you don't have good background in mathematics particularly number theory, combinatorics, graph theory etc
After learnnig these topics, move to algorithms design. Cormen and leisersion  will be a good book.
Merely learning C++ wont help you in solving problems. It's just a tool and tools won't craft the statue themselves. Your skills with the help of tools get the job done.
If you want to move to MBA then why so much stress to gain competitive problem solving skills and web development?
Either be exceptional in algorithms and machine learning or excel in MBA exams. Both paths will give you money once you will be exceptional in any of them.
Preparing for both simulatenously will make you average and mess up the things.
