either you have to pay Rs 500 (one time only) to get the mtnl wifi modem and Rs 75 as rent of modem instead of Rs 50 per month

Or you can buy your own wifi modem of belkin it will cost around Rs 2200 .

The thing is mtnl modem has less range as compared to belkin

mtnl modem provide not even 10 meter coverage while belin provide 100 meter coverage .

And you dont even need to pay anything to mtnl (rent and wifi modem one time fee)

rest your plan will remain the same only modem needs to be changed .

I previously had unlimited mtnl plan of 512kbps + 100 calls and i upgraded it to wifi, (2-3 weeks ago ) they replaced the router just 3 days after i called them to change.

and,  rs 25 per month extra are charged.

no other cost...

i think it depends on particular router's range
place the router on high in ur 2nd floor's room to get access on ground floor & make sure it's not obstruct by wall/metal objects...actually most of the routers range upto 35ft...so start measuring ur house now

TRY TO SET UR ROUTER IN CENTRE OF UR HOUSE

u just have to type in the textbox of "password" secured by WPA2 at the time of configuring ur wifi router to access on ur PC

1)  we can keep password/key  according to us..  like i v kept it ma phone no.  and u can also change it anytime by visiting 192.168.1.1  from chrome/ie etc
( Mtnl waala banda saari setting kar dega).

2) Router was given absolutely free,,  in exchange of previous one.

3) i think the range of my wifi is about 20 metres coz i get connection in every room of my house (but m not sure, will it cum above 2 floors or not).

and yes,  make sure no gates etc comes in b/w  cause they creates probs  but minor things cant be avoided.

4) if anything needs to be installed..  thats not ur headache..  mtnl waala kar dega.

hey dude !
i think i can help u...

i hv used 3 wireless router+modem or wifi modem and set up them manually at home.. that are belkin , buffalo and the D-link(by MTNL)

i must say buffalo was the best among them , go for N150 technology if u want a suitable range within 1 floor if u want a strong wifi network then u will have to pay lil bit more...

buffalo N150 cost me around 2500 rs
belkin was about 2100 rs

u only have to write an application letter to the mtnl regarding change of modem (call 1504 for the details to be written in the application) and return all of their equipments.

if u dont know how to set up manually , most of the modems come with the driver cd which help u through a wizard to install your modem just remember following things while setting up ur modem-->

1.chose connection type as pppoe
2.vpi=0 , vci=32  (for MTNL only)
3.username=ur L.L number.
4.password as your C.A no. (written in ur bill)
5.leave the rest as default..(dont provide any service name if asked)
