What's Google celebrating today?
« on: May 09, 2011, 10:13:31 pm »
We see that Google crew usually don't settle down quietly, they celebrate each single event.. :)
we recently saw them celebrating Charlie's Chaplin's Birthday  and today they are upto 76th Birthday anniversary of "Mr Men" .

Quote/Ask Question
Google is celebrating what
would have been the 76th birthday of children's author Roger Hargreaves
with a series of homepage doodles depicting characters from his popular
Mr. Men and Little Miss books.

Google doodlers have crafted more than a dozen versions of the
company's logo featuring the cartoon characters from Hargreaves' books,
from Little Miss and Mr. Tickle to Mr. Happy and Mr. Messy.

Today's animation celebrates the Dance pioneer Martha Graham

[/b][/size]The line. The leap. The leg kick. It is arguably the most elegant
Google Doodle yet.
The folks at Google celebrate would what have been pioneering
dancer/choreographer Martha Graham’s 117th birthday with a
beguiling short animation by “motiongrapher”
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul,” said the mother of modern dance, who died in 1991 in New York, at age 96.

Graham invented her own language of movement that revolutionized dance. Her honors over a legendary career included the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1976), and she was inducted into the National Museum of Dance C.V. Whitney Hall of Fame in 1987. Her Martha Graham Dance Company is the oldest dance company in the United States.

“Graham was far from the first dancer to rip off her toe shoes and break with the rigid conventions of 19th century ballet. ... ,” said Terry Teachout, writing for Time magazine in 1998. “But it was her homegrown technique — the fierce pelvic contractions, the rugged ‘floor work’ that startled those who took for granted that real dancers soared through the air — that caught on, becoming the cornerstone of postwar modern dance.

“Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Mark Morris — all are Graham’s children and grandchildren.

Celebrating Les Paul's Birthday

There Logo today :

Quote/Ask Question
Google has put up a digital version of the legendary electric guitar, the Gibson Les Paul, in place of its logo to celebrate the 96th birthday of the country and jazz guitarist, songwriter and inventor, Lester William Polsfuss, better known as Les Paul.
The Google doodle in honour of Les Paul is playable by hovering the cursor over the doodle and even by the computer keyboard. "For the next 24 hours on the Google homepage, you’ll find an interactive, playable logo inspired by the guitar developed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee that made the sound of rock and roll possible," Alexander Chen, a designer with Google's creative lab posted on the official Google blog. Users in the US can also record the their own
30-second track.

Google's 13th birthday today..

The search engine marks entering its teens by turning its home page into a birthday party scene.

Surrounded by multi-coloured balloons and streamers, its logo is adorned with party hats and sits behind a table heaped with wrapped presents and a
large white birthday cake with 13 candles.

Although Google's founders, Stanford University graduate students Larry Page and Sergey Brin, built their first search engine in 1996, it was not until 1998 that
they formalised their work and created Google.

The company filed for incorporation on September 4, 1998, and the Google.com domain was registered on September 15. The search engine officially celebrates its birthday on September 27.

Google today is celebrating Mark Twain birthday.
Mark Twain, who had arguably one of the sharpest tongues in literary history, is celebrated with a wide-angle Google Doodle on Wednesday showing Tom Sawyer and a young companion he's duped into whitewashing a picket fence.

Google's 'Let It Snow' easter egg frosts your screen

A new Winter Google Easter Egg is now live. Search for ‘Let it Snow
on Google and watch Snow falling on the Google Search results.

Gradually the snow becomes dense and as frost settles, you can write
your name on the snow.
:xd:
Click the Defrost button and the screen clears
but the snow continues to fall on the Google page.

Google has come up with an interactive
doodle on the eve of Christmas, playing the celebration tune of 'jingle
Bells'. Making the 'Happy Holidays' Google doodle musical and
interactive, Google wishes us Merry Christmas, bringing us in a festive
mood.

The happy holidays doodle has six glowing buttons. Each button
plays a sound from the musical notes of 'jingle bells', when we click on
it. Once we click on all the six buttons, it shows a button with a
musical note. When we click on this musical note button, it plays
'jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way'.

SOMETIMES, not even Google keywords can lead the search for love.

The default image of the doodle is of the boy holding a Valentine with
the Google logo on the background.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NgJtyT6IWxs

It's a music video doodle on the Google home page this Valentine's Day.
The Valentine's Day Google doodle is in the form of a short animated
love story of a boy trying to woo a girl set to Tony Bennett's rendition
of Hank Williams' classic blues ballad
Cold, Cold Heart.
