@ kurosaki sir and sagrma sir

sir right now i am in 4th sem, so i can opt from php and java..
as techmaniac sir mentioned java to hum logo ko 5th sem me aani hi hai, would it be fruitful to choose php,etc over learning java..??
kisi company me ja k training karne ka mera koi man nhi hai.. this time its on me to choose from, you are my seniors and have been through this stage before.. tell me if you were me and given a chance once again, what will you do..??

Frankly, Java ka syllabus bahut zyada hai, if you know it it'll give you a MASSIVE edge over others. That said, I dont support learning any language you know, personally I'd advise you to go for Networking(Cisco cert) or Linux (RHCE).

As an advice, whatever you do Java,DotNet or Linux, try and get its certification as well. I cleared RHCE(Red Hat Certified Engg) in November last year after I had done training on Linux, networking features and all the linux-based servers like ftp, http(apache), samba, dhcp etc.

I might be biased but I'd suggest you to do Linux(mind you I know dotNet as well and Java jo college mein bakwaas si hui thi :P) even though it will be a subject for CSE in 5th sem because if you get the RHCE cert, you can start doing various online things and develop small projects on it.

For the languages, I'll advise to prefer Java or dotNet over Php, one because you can always learn php fundamentals(not the advanced features) online but the other two are VERY VAST and you'll need guidance from an industrial trainer.

thanks a ton for replies.. n wiser advises..
So all in all, nobody advised company training.. To iss cheejh ko to abhi k liye bhool jata hu..
Now again its networking or learning java,etc..
i am interested in going with php, and i will do it religiously + i will seek a certi for it..
Now the second thing bothering me is, the Hacking part.. i have started trying hands with this a couple of months ago, i read ebooks, attented a few seminars, and today i can make RATS that can do a sort of thing.. May be by the end of my btech, i emerge as a security expert with nice projects to do.. But will continuing this hacking thing WITHOUT any proof can help me in b.tech.. And even if i do some ethical hacking training and got a certi, will this help me..?? I want to do both php and hacking..

To learn hacking is good but to write it in resume is worst because some company doesnt like hacking word in profile.

Dude, you're in CSE or IT?

In IT the college conducts training for php so for them it isnt a problem, but for CSE they'll spank you hard if you do training in php and submit a website as your project. In CSE, try to get into Java/dotNet, Linux, Networking(Cisco cert) or do a good project in a good company(pvt or govt).
Even last year, the training for IT was in php, but in CSE virtually no one did php, and a couple who did were thrashed.

I mean if you're interested in php then you CAN learn it, but for the project try the better(or more advanced) languages or go the open sourced way and learn Linux properly which will help you not only in Linux(which is a subject for CSE only) and in the Computer Networks.
