training after 2nd year
« on: February 04, 2011, 09:12:01 am »
I am very confused about whether to join any company after 2nd year for training or to join some institute for any course....

seniors please help me in this regard and tell me which is fruitful...

my parents have links in HCL,and i have heard that joining company for training isnt that helpful(one doesnt gain much experience and doest gets to learn anything from companies)...

from the hearsay i think that joining some institute and to do couse like Java is more fruitful, but i am hell confused, seniors please help me in this regard....

i will recommend you to do training from some good govt organisation like
i did from drdo
my friend did from dit
and they made a very good
project
the point here is training in second year is not taken that much seriously you can do courses also
kurosaki is from cse he may guide you better
as i was from ece doing course from institute would not have helped

training in HCL will do no good if u cant find a decent project to work on

since u r  doing after 2nd year then doing a course would be much better than doing nothing at a company

i would recommend doing a course in a language that interests you

doing java would be much better since it will be in you next sem too

if u r doing a course in .net then be ready to face viva since college really dont appreciate courses in .net

if u r interested in networking field then i would recommend either RHCE or ccna certification course that would be additional part  to you CV but only if u r really going in the networking field

well as long as u r getting a good faculty since obviously u r paying for it
everything is fine  :think

so i would recommend you to meet faculty before joining any institute ask his teaching method, experience, batch strength (yes u should ask these questions)  :cc

if possible ask any student currently undergoing java course

coming to institutes................... well obvious one is NIIT
DOEACC, APPIN

faculty must be a knowledgeable and experienced one that is the main priority    :nerd:

@ kurosaki sir
doing java from a reputated inst is good n we'll b a edge ahead from the students who did training, etc instead of doing some course.. So we have a upper hand over them..
But i am basically interested in knowing options, like u have talked abt networking.. Say i am interested in it, what scope it has and to what extent it can help me, in engineering and real world ?
I'll be glad if u or any other senior answr this

i would say to all second year students,
go for PHP rather than doing JAVA or .NET.

let see why m i saying this?,

I have done training in MMTC(METAL AND MINERAL TRADING CORP.) computer deptt. and I got to know about one library in .net so i dont say it was horrible experience,i was having the option of taking HCL CERTI too.

so first of all HCL doesnt give trng ,it only provide certi.............  1

second,CSE/IT guys learn java in 5th sem from Scratch to HARD,so dont think you should require trng in JAVA.

.Net is useful for making good projects in easy way and to impress your teachers.(but some companies are not following it).

PHP.. PHP is best technology to make good sites, forums, blogs (as JOOMLA,DRUPAL etc) all r PHP supported.
and you can indulge in our colg TECH TEAM BY MAKING COLG FEST SITE or official site.

so I THINK ,YOU ALL SHOULD OPTED FOR PHP and if you guys know c++/c then
its good in  programming section, no need to add extra language..... 2

so if you have both option 1 n 2 then grab both. as at the time of placement you can show any one of them according to situation.... :P

and you can do trng in company after third year as it is compulsory though.

networking is a really good field if u r interested in it like for example

my friend shashank is really good in networking and did his 2nd year training from nettech in bits goa and 3rd year training through cisco his minor project was based on VPN and to all faculties' surprise he and his friend shut down the college's entire internet through his terminal for which he got appraisal from HOD CSE dept showing the vulnerabilities of LAN

i too was impressed............................ now u can see how he applied his knowledge both in curriculum and real world

if u have certification in networking like CISCO OR RHCE then it adds to Ur CV
which also helps during Placement (basically giving u an edge over the others)

if u have enough knowledge then company might opt you for security analyst which is a really cool Job Profile

if it is for leaning purpose then it is really good  choice but those who are only interested in getting good marks should rather avoid it

because i have seen it and it happens all the time that faculty is not impressed with u learning PHP.............. their viewpoint...................
(yeh to website bana kar le aaye tum .............yeh to koi bhi kar lega
tumne naya kya kiya)

i would recommend if you are learning php then submit a project worthwhile

on the other hand i myself is learning php on my own
reasons:
1.u can make very cool web based projects in it
2.it is free and can let u earn too(not possible with java or .net )
3.u can contribute to ur college too with this(additional benefits)
4.and we all well know FACEBOOK made in PHP is now really over the top (surpassing the old ORKUT in aspx(.net))

that thinking would lead you in trouble,

.net and php is not a ABCD or EFGH,they r good courses with lot of hardwork require.

so whenever you do a course then concentrate on that never try to think in doing all at the same time.

@kurosaki sir,we never faced this situation to show website or so my lot of frnd done trng in php from MAIT and they made good management websites.

pardon me for going off topic
can/will you friends work on projects for modification on
AEF (i can explain the entire working; just manipulation will be left; those who dont know php i can provide lynda tutes of PHP, JAVASCRIPT, XML & AJAX plus ZEND 8.0 for debugging)
if yes do tell me
i am working on this but since
it require a lot of manpower
i, alone ; well to be honest, am not sufficient
AEF is only INDIAN bboard system on death bed.

Can we change the college after completing 1st year of B.Tech or can I apply for the lateral entry?
