SOME FACTS ABOUT SANTA CLAUS:

1) No known species of reindeer canfly. But there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not completelyrule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.

2) There are 2 billion children in the world (persons under 18). But since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, or Buddhist children, that reduces the workload by 85% of the total - leaving 378 million according to the Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there is at least one good child per house.

3) Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000 th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stocking, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house. Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which,of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about 0.78 miles per household, a total trip of 75.5 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding, etc. That means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second - a conventional reindeer can run, at tops 25-30 miles per hour.

4) The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming each child gets nothing more then a medium sized LEGO set(2 lbs), the sleigh is carrying 321300tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds. Evengranting the 'flying reindeer' can pull TEN TIMES that normal amount,we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine - we need 214200 reindeer. This increased the payload- not even counting the weight of the sleigh to 353430 tons. Again forcomparison, this is four timed the weight of the HMS Queen Elizabeth.

5) 353000 tons travelling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance. This will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecrafts re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy per second, each. In short, they will burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and creating a deafening sonic boom in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa meanwhile, will be subject to centrifugal forces of 17500.06 timesgreater than gravity. A 250 lb Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of the sleigh by a 4,315,015 pound force. In conclusion, if Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas eve, he's now dead.

UNKNOWN FACTS OF GIZA:

The Great Pyramid is the most remarkable building in existence on the face of our planet today. It was built with such precision that our current technology cannot replicate it. This pyramid is so precisely constructed that until recently (with the advent of laser measuring equipment) scientists were not able to discover some of its subtle symmetries (not to mention duplicate them). Among other aspects, there are also very exact geometric relationships between all the structures in the pyramid complex at Giza.

Precision of engineering:

The four faces of the pyramid are slightly concave, the only pyramid to have been built this way.

The centres of the four sides are indented with an extraordinary degree of precision forming the only 8 sided pyramid.

The effect is not visible from the ground or from a distance but only from the air, and then only under the proper lighting conditions.

The granite coffer in the "King's Chamber" is too big to fit through the passages and so it must have been put in place during construction.

Microscopic analysis of the coffer reveals that it was made with a fixed point drill that used hard jewel bits and a drilling force of 2 tons.

The coffer was sawn out of a block of solid granite. This would have required bronze saws 8-9 ft. long set with teeth of sapphires.

Hollowing out of the interior would require tubular drills of the same material applied with a tremendous vertical force.

The Great Pyramid had a swivel door entrance at one time. Swivel doors were found in only two other pyramids: Khufu's father and grandfather, Sneferu and Huni, respectively.

It is reported that when the pyramid was first broken into that the swivel door, weighing some 20tons, was so well balanced that it could be opened by pushing out from the inside with only minimal force, but when closed, was so perfect a fit that it could scarcely bedetected and there was not enough crack or crevice around theedges to gain a grasp from the outside.

Around the world, the ozone layer averages about 3 millimeters thick, approximately the same as two pennies stacked one on top of the other

Ozone (Greek ozein, “to smell”), is a pale blue, highly poisonous gas with a strong odor. Ozone is considered a pollutant at ground level, but the ozone layer of the upper atmosphere protects life on Earth from the Sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation.

Electrical sparks and ultraviolet light can cause ordinary oxygen to form ozone. The presence of ozone sometimes causes a detectable odor near electrical outlets.

Liquid ozone is deep blue whereas Solid ozone is dark purple. Ozone is much more active chemically than ordinary oxygen. It is used in purifying water, sterilizing air, and bleaching certain foods.

Ozone at ground level is a health hazard, causing respiratory ailments such as bronchitis and asthma. It also damages vegetation and causes rubber and some plastics to deteriorate. Nitrogen oxides and volatile organic gases emitted by automobiles and industrial sources combine to form ozone

Christmas Facts

Each year, 30-35 million real Christmas trees are sold in the United States alone. There are 21,000 Christmas tree growers in the United States, and trees usually grow for about 15 years before they are sold.

Today, in the Greek and Russian orthodox churches, Christmas is celebrated 13 days after the 25th, which is also referred to as the Epiphany or Three Kings Day. This is the day it is believed that the three wise men finally found Jesus in the manger.

In the Middle Ages, Christmas celebrations were rowdy and raucous—a lot like today's Mardi Gras parties.

From 1659 to 1681, the celebration of Christmas was outlawed in Boston, and law-breakers were fined five shillings.

Christmas wasn't a holiday in early America—in fact Congress was in session on December 25, 1789, the country's first Christmas under the new constitution.

Christmas was declared a federal holiday in the United States on June26, 1870.

The first eggnog made in the UnitedStates was consumed in Captain John Smith's 1607 Jamestown settlement.

Poinsettia plants are named after Joel R. Poinsett, an American minister to Mexico, who brought the red-and-green plant from Mexico to America in 1828.

The Salvation Army has been sending Santa Claus-clad donation collectors into the streets since the 1890s.

Lake Baikal in Russia contains more water than all the North American Great Lakes combined.

The world's densest wood, the Black Ironwood (Olea laurifolia), does not float on water and therefore sinks.

Lightning produces a higher temperature than that at the surface of the sun. The temperature of a lightening bolt can get to 30 000 deg C, whereas the surface of the sun is just about 5500 deg C, that is about 5.5 times hotter, thank God it lasts for only seconds.

There was an outbreak of dancing in Strasbourg, France in 1518. It started with on lady called Frau Troffea begun dancing frevently in a street and 400 others joined her within a month. This dancing was so intense that it lead to heart attacks, stroke and exhaustion. Possible explanation is Mass Psychogenic illness (MPI) that occurs in a large population exposed to extreme distress such as famine.

A similar incident occured in Tanganyika(now Tanzania) in January 30, 1962, at a mission-run boarding school for girls in Kashasha. The girls started laughing and soon the laughter spread, 14 schools were shut down and 1000 people affected. Other symptoms that followed include pain, fainting, respiratory problems, rashes, attacks of crying, random screaming.
