Difference between Resistive & Capacitive touchscreens
« on: October 29, 2011, 01:46:41 am »
A resistive touchscreen has two thin layers of conductive but
transparent film above the screen, and measures the change in resistance
between the two layers due to the pressure of touch.

A capacitive touchscreen measures the interaction between an
electrical signal on a transparent grid above the screen and the userís
finger.

Resistive touchscreens are much cheaper to make but have a higher response time(slower) and dont support multi touch.

A capacitive screen is beautifully smooth to operate because it just requires the presence of your finger, not any pressure.

Resistive touch is the old technology that used to have a stick with touch phones to operate it, with the fingers resistive touch is tough to use,

capacitive touch is the latest technology and in all android phones today, they have this tech where you can use your fingers to browse and this supports multi touch.

Capacitive touchscreens offer better display than resistive touchscreens as well but are a bit more expensive.

Examples of devices with capacitive touchscreens are the iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy/Ace etc. Devices with resistive touchscreens include the LG Viewty phone and the Nokia tablets and some Nokia touch phones.
