Recruitment of probationary officers in Banks is
done through a written competitive exam (Bank
PO exam) followed by interview for successful
candidates. Each bank has a separate
process of selection for the POs. Some banks do
selection only by written exams but other have a
process of interview for successful candidates.
SBI follow three stage selection
and have group discussions before interview

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality
Indian. In some banks there are also provisions
for subjects of some neighbouring countries

Qualification
Minimum qualification is Graduation. However
banks also prescribe at least 55 to 60% marks in
graduation as eligibility criteria. The minimum
required marks can also be different for science,
commerce and arts stream. Further there may be
relaxations for reserved category

Age
Age requirement in most Bank PO exam is 21 to
30 years. This may be relaxed upto 5 years for
reserved categories.

General Awareness.   40.                        40
Computer Knowledge 20.                        20
Total.                          200.                        200

Negative Marking: 1/4th of the marks deducted
for every incorrect answer

The starting basic pay for
SBI Probationary Officers (SBI PO) is Rs 16900/-
(with 4 increments) in the scale of
14500-600/7-18700-700/2-20100-800/7-25700
applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale I.
The officer will also be eligible for DA (Dearness
Allowance), HRA (House Rent Allowance) & CCA
(Compensatory City Allowance) as per rules in
force from time to time

The compensation per annum in Mumbai is
around Rs 840000 .
The break up of monthly compensation is as
under:
* Cash Component Rs 34320/-
* Bank's contribution to PF Rs 1690/-
* Housing (Lease Rental) Rs 29500/-
* Perquisites (Conveyance, Newspapers,
Entertainment allowance, House & Furniture
Maintenance etc.) Rs 4130/-
In addition, the officers are also entitled to other
benefits like:
(i) Medical Aid for self (100%) and for family
(75%)
(ii) Home Travel Concession/Leave Fare
Concession
(iii) Concessional Interest Rates for Housing/Car/
Personal Loans


SBI gives  more perks compared to other banks

most of all facing one question is that how to prepare for the bank exam. Before going to know the answer for this question first we need to know what is the selection process. Selection Process includes written test followed by Group Discussion or Personal interview.
