Please correct if I am wrong-
1) Least count of vernier calipers=Value of 1 main scale div/total vernier scale div
It depends from device to device, in most of the cases 0.001 inch.
2) Cutting tools- Saws, Chisels, Axe
Planing tools- Jack plane, smoothing plane etc.
Striking tools- Hammers & Mallets
Holding tools- Clamping vice, C-clamp etc.
Marking , measuring and testing tools-  Steel foot rule, try square, pencil etc.
Miscellaneous tools- Screw driver, sandpaper etc.
3) i)Shielded Metal Arc Welding
ii)Metal Inert Gas Welding
iii)Carbon Arc Welding
iv)Submerged Arc Welding
v)Tungsten Inert Gas Arc Welding
vi)Plasma Arc Welding
4) Arc blow, is the usually unwanted deflection of the arc during arc welding. 2 types- Magnetic arc blow, Thermal arc blow.
5) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casting_(metalworking)#The_gating_system
6) A mould is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid like plastic, glass, metal or ceramic raw materials. The liquid hardens or sets inside the mould, adopting its shape. It is the opposite of a cast.
7) Not sure, but patterns are made up of wood, steel, cast iron, aluminium alloys etc.(refer to any MP book for more pattern materials)
8) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welding_defect
9) Netural Flame, Carburizing Flame, Oxidising Flame.
10) Smithing and forging are part of hot working processes. Smithing is done for small jobs in open fire while in forging production of parts is done in closed furnace.
It is defined as controlled plastic deformation of metal at elevated temp. into a predetermined size & shape using compressive forces exerted through some type of die(like a press or a hammer).
11) Refer to your Lab manual.
12) Metal Penetration, Warpage, Blow holes, Shrinkage, Hot tears, Cuts and washes, drops, fusion, short metal, shift etc.
13) Scriber has 1 steel leg and a pencil for the other leg(Similar to a compass). A divider has 2 steel legs.
14) Blue, Red, Black. I think blue=oxygen , red=acetylene, black=neutral, not sure!
15) Prevents Cavities due to shrinkage in the metal casting mould during solidification.
